Children's Eye Examination
Vision continues to develop throughout childhood. Some conditions, including astigmatism, myopia, amblyopia and binocular vision problems, may not be immediately apparent but can affect learning and visual comfort.
At Dr. Ali Acu centrs, we see children aged 6 and over.
When to have an eye examination
The timing and frequency of eye examinations depend on the child’s age, previous findings, symptoms and individual risk factors.
An earlier examination may be recommended if a child squints, experiences frequent headaches or has difficulty seeing clearly at a distance.
What the examination may include
Age-appropriate visual acuity testing, refraction – usually with cycloplegia – assessment of binocular vision and convergence, slit-lamp examination and, when indicated, retinal examination.
